the glories of owning a chaise lounge

Finally got around to finishing one of the drawings I started

trips i will take next year

somewhere between buying furniture, arranging furniture, major fall cleaning and most of my things being lost in the abyss that is our storage bins -- I had no time to finish up the drawings I had intended to finish. booo. Well, anyways, this weekend I got to making the absolutely crucial decision that I am going to Lollapalooza next year with my friend, who also firmly believes in wearing too much fringe and feather headbands and swaying to Foster the People which was in the lineup this year. Rightfully deserves another boo because I missed it. So in that spirit, I ran into these little gems and am considering it a good start to my planning.

band of outsiders

The clothing brand Band of Outsiders has two new spokesmodels for their Fall campaign and just take a gander at who they are?!
P.S. (They're in the pictures)
It's Rupert Grint and Tom Felton -- both of which I love and worship (like Dieties...oh yeah I went there)! The upscale hipster style clothing runs pretty expensive, but I've gotta admit, I'm totally digging the aesthetic going on here: Polaroid pictures, muted colors, cute boys, the outdoors, lute boys, libraries..

unleash your inner giraffe

The idea came to me one night in a dream -- what if a girl had giraffe horns (is that how what they call it?) and liked to dress in animal print leotards? A whole lot of fun, that's what.
But on the real, it was just something I though of while I was trying not to fall asleep at work yesterday.

from the sketchbook

So these are pics from the sketchbook, because I've realized that my scanner isn't exactly the latest or most up-to-date in printer technologies, or whatever. (i.e. it's really old).

She didn't take too long to sketch, just about an hourish but I'm still pretty excited about it. I might go back later and do something different to her hair.
And I have absolutely no idea who the model is, but major kudos to her for lending me her face -- without her permission.

call of the wild

I like drawing cute animals. And, I think I might just keep doing it. Don't try to stop me!
haha! you can't catch me alive, coppers!
That's definitely from a movie. It's not something I would normally say. Just putting that out there.

things i need

Today, as I sat down on my newly-appointed desk (no longer the intern hiding in the cubbyhole -- YES!) I found the best store ever. I fully understand that there is a lot of weight in those words and I accept total responsibility for anyone who may be completely let down. But you wont. Or if you are, what's wrong with you?! Just kidding. Not really.

Apparently, stripes are my thing right now.

pastels

via tumblr

If I had really blonde hair (which I don't) and full on creative control of what was acceptable for hair at work (which, again, I don't) I would so do this to my hair. I mean, it looks pretty awesome

So to end this, and before my pizza gets cold, here's some encouraging words: get your pastel on, people.

If you're planning on going forth with this new venture (business talk) then you've got to read this tutorial, right here.

voila, c'est macarons!

Oh why, oh why are macaroons so addicting! Or maybe I'm just a weakling with an even weaker sense of self-control. I've never found the time because i'm lazy to make these little babies, but one day, somehow, in the distant future, I'll do it! I reallyreally will. Luckily, my time (lazy bones) impediment doesn't stop me from drawing them. Yum! Just don't be tempted to taste the screen. Trust me. Don't ask.

vous pouvez trouver mon cœur à Paris

Bonjour mes amis! Now, I wish I could continue this in French, but sadly those four years of language in high school didn't leave as much of an impact on me as I would've liked. But I digress, this is what I've been working on for a few days now but just haven't found the time to color! Hopefully, I'll be doing it this weekend.

inspired by:

When I saw this picture, I couldn't help but sing (yes, out loud) Florence + The Machine's 'Howl'. If you haven't heard it, go, go! Unleash your inner wolf! Actually, I take that back. Don't unleash anything -- it could get disruptive -- just listen (a little swaying is acceptable).

Photo credits are unknown. Both found on Tumblr.

happy monday

Back from vacation and now back to reality - hence an ode to my very special friend: coffee! Though I use
the term 'ode' very loosely because I'm not entirely sure I can dedicate a poem to it.

This is what happens after being on Tumblr for too long.

happy birthday

I think I'm beginning to like colouring on Photoshop! I sketched her, coloured her, and then printed her as a greeting card for mom's birthday today. It still needs a little cleaning up, but I'm loving the pastels and the whimsical feel it gives the sketch. So pretty!

feathers

I have a strange affinity with feathers and and all things fringe. Maybe I should've been born an Indian -- I ponder at times -- but then I decide it's better I wasn't. I couldn't do with the rawhide and hunting and skimpy clothes. Not that I'm here to judge the Indian tribes of way back when. All I'm saying is - Pocahontas definitely wore more clothes than they did. Not that I ever counted her as an accurate representation of everyday Indians anyways....ok, that's a lie.

Sleeves

I love red hair and brown hats.

seeing stripes

This is loosely based on an outfit I saw on one of my all-time favorite blogs cupcakes & cashmere

Hogwarts

Yes, I'm one of those.

I cried at the London premiere. I cried at the midnight premiere. And I'm still feeling sniffly, not that that's a word. It is now.

This is obviously in honor of the Harry Potter films. It isn't Hermione, though I had intended on drawing her first. She's just a random Gryffindor. Although secretly, I've always been a Ravenclaw kind of girl.

thinking of you

A tall, mysterious blonde longingly staring off in a distant reverie of ___( you can fill in the blank there).
This was my very first attempt at watercolouring! Usually, I never got past the sketching part because I thought it would ruin the drawing --mais no! -- it actually made it better! Of course, this being my first attempt and all, and let's be honest here, it wasn't all that great. x

P.S. Can anyone please tell me how to center the top and bottom pictures on my page? Would be so helpful.
